What are line reducing treatments?

Line reducing injections are one the most popular cosmetic treatment in the UK for the reduction of wrinkle and fine lines. Botulinum toxin has been used medically in the UK aesthetics industry for around 20 years. It is a protein which is injected into the muscle temporarily relaxing it. As the muscles relax, the overlying skin which has been creased tight into fine folds, also relaxes and lines and wrinkles smooth away.

They should only be administered by an experienced medical practitioner after a face to face consultation who will then ensure if you are suitable and that the correct amount is placed proportionatley in the right areas to ensure the desired look is achieved.

As an anti-ageing treatment, it is injected into specific facial muscles that are used for certain expressions, such as frowning or squinting. The effects lasts 3-5 months, with peak effect happening at 6-9 weeks. gradually after which you will experience your facial expressions gradually returning to normal.

You may feel a slight ‘tight’ sensation or a feeling of ‘heaviness’ which will subside in a few weeks. After a month your treatment will still be very effective with a visible reduction in lines. Some people will have a very small amount of movement return, although this differs for everyone and also depends on the area treated.
