Hair removal

Our Biocare-lite delivers advanced SHR technology in a compact, powerful and user-friendly device capable of reducing treatment times by half. It makes delivering great results fast and simple. Unlike regular IPL that delivers one high-energy light pulse to the target structure, SHR delivers repetitive low-energy light pulses that accumulate in the hair follicle to effectively destroy it. A short gap between each pulse allows the surrounding tissue to cool, making treatments pain free and suitable for both light and darker skin types.

Hair removal treatment times are reduced by over 50% with the Biocare-lite’s in-motion delivery system, which enables quick gliding of the hand piece over the treatment area. Combined with its advanced active skin cooling system, the Biocare-lite delivers faster, painless treatments with outstanding results.

How does Super Hair removal work?

SHR works by gradually heating the dermis to a temperature that effectively damages the hair follicles and prevents re-growth, while avoiding injury to the surrounding tissue. A high repetition rate of short pulses are delivered deep into the dermis, achieving high average power and therapeutically effective heat build-up, with virtually no pain. The sweeping in motion technique of moving the applicator repeatedly over the treatment area ensures full coverage while cooled tip technology cools the skin surface – preventing superficial burns and allowing for virtually painless, yet highly effective hair removal..

Will my hair grow back?

Actively growing hair that’s been treated with SHR should not grow back. Once a hair follicle is damaged, it cannot grow hair. However, hair follicles that were not in the active growth phase, will need to be treated. It’s also not unusual for some patients to have a touch-up two years after initial treatment due to hormonal changes.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on your individual hair type. Most of our clients require anywhere between 4 – 6 sessions to achieve optimum results, although hair will become finer just from the very first treatment. It just depends on your individual hair type, and of course we will advise you prior to treatment.

Why do I need multiple treatments?

Everyone’s hair grows in cycles that consists of three phases – the Anagen phase (active growth), Catagen phase (dormant growth) and Telogen phase (fall-out stage). Hair can only be permanently destroyed during the Anagen phase. During this active phase, hair follicles have an abundance of colour and are being fed by blood vessels. The heat generated by the laser seals off the blood vessels to these active hairs preventing them from growing back.

You can expect that 50 – 85% of hairs are in the active growth phase at one time, but typically only 5-35% of these hairs will contain enough pigment to be permanently reduced. Surviving hairs will come back, but usually weaker and finer in texture. In order for our treatments to be effective, our program takes a phased approach to laser hair reduction to coincide with the Anagen phase of hair growth, maximizing the effectiveness of each treatment.

Is the SHR recommended for all skin types?

The SHR system can be safely used on all skin types, even dark ones. This is so because the technology and techniques employed. Unlike the traditional laser and IPLs, SHR can be used all year around without need of having to hide from sunlight.

Does SHR work with blond or red hair?

As with all light based depilation systems, the darker hairs with most melanin, are those which better absorb light, however, with SHR there can be as much as a 50% reduction in red and blond hair which some lasers and IPL can’t reach. As with all systems, results may vary from one patient to another.

Which areas can be treated?

SHR works on virtually all areas of the body. With a series of treatments, as long as the hair has strong colour, we can treat the face, forehead, neck, chest, back, buttocks, bikini area, legs, even fingers and toes..

Is SHR permanent?

There is no such thing as definitive hair removal; the body’s hormones are always producing hair. What can be achieved with the treatment is a hair reduction of 80 to 90% and with just repeating the treatment once or twice a year; the initial results can be sustained.

Is SHR painful?

You will feel SHR but it should not be painful.

Is SHR right for me?

Yes. Coarse or fine, dark, blonde or red hair – all respond well to SHR IPL hair removal treatments..
